Leisure Services Assistant

At Western Home Communities, our Leisure Services team creates meaningful experiences that help residents stay active, engaged, and connected. As a Leisure Services Assistant, you will plan and lead activities, build relationships with residents and families, and support a vibrant community environment where every person is valued.

What You’ll Do
  • Assist in planning and leading group and one-on-one leisure activities that support residents’ interests, abilities, and personal goals.
  • Help develop and carry out a monthly activity calendar with engaging social, recreational, and wellness opportunities.
  • Safely transport and assist residents in attending activities both within the community and on community outings.
  • Build positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and volunteers.
  • Observe residents during activities and promptly communicate any unusual behaviors or concerns to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate participation records and activity documentation.
  • Keep activity areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with ordering and organizing activity supplies.
  • Support volunteer involvement and help ensure volunteers have a welcoming and rewarding experience.
  • Assist with the preparation and service of breakfast meals for approximately 15–20 residents on an as-needed basis while following food safety and sanitation standards.

What We’re Looking For
  • A compassionate, energetic individual who enjoys working with older adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize activities and manage multiple tasks.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to safely assist residents with mobility and participation in activities.
  • Previous experience in activities, recreation, hospitality, customer service, or senior living is preferred, but not required.
