Job Description: Legal Operations Lead, Rate & Vendor Management
Location: New York, NY 10036 - Onsite Role
Duration: 09 Months (Extension/Conversion will be based on performance)
Pay Range: $(50 - 55) on a hourly basis
Job Description:
- We are seeking an experienced Legal Operations Lead to support a corporate legal department by managing outside counsel billing, timekeeper rate approvals, and vendor relationships.
- This role is responsible for reviewing and approving legal invoices, administering eBilling platforms, resolving billing inquiries, maintaining rate cards, and ensuring compliance with billing guidelines.
- The ideal candidate will have experience with legal operations, outside counsel management, invoice lifecycle processes, and legal technology platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Manage outside counsel rate cards, rate reviews, and billing approvals.
- Review and approve high-volume legal invoices for accuracy and compliance.
- Resolve billing and invoicing inquiries with outside law firms and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain vendor, matter, and billing data within legal eBilling and matter management systems.
- Generate reports, analyze legal spend, and support process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Accounts Payable, Procurement, and IT teams.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of Legal Operations or Legal Vendor Management experience.
- Experience with outside counsel management, legal billing, and timekeeper rate cards.
- Hands-on experience with eBilling platforms such as CounselLink, Collaborati, TeamConnect, or eCounsel.
- Experience with S A P or Ora_cle ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting); Power BI or Tableau is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
