As a Legal Advocate, you will guide survivors through legal and medical processes, provide crisis support, and ensure their rights and needs are protected. You are a crucial link between survivors and the justice and healthcare systems.
What You’ll Do
· Provide crisis support: Offer safety planning, emotional support, and guidance to survivors.
· Educate survivors: Explain legal rights and options, including protection orders, custody, and child support.
· Accompany survivors: Support survivors in court, law enforcement interviews, and medical exams.
· Assist with legal paperwork: Help survivors complete forms and connect with attorneys or legal aid.
· Provide medical advocacy: Facilitate access to medical care and forensic exams after assault.
· Collaborate: Work with law enforcement, attorneys, healthcare providers, and community partners.
· Maintain records: Ensure accurate, confidential documentation of all services provided.
· Outreach & education: Participate in community events to raise awareness of survivors’ rights.
· Occasional evening, weekend, or on-call duties.
· Some travel within the community may be required.
