Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
Support the delivery of courses in a competency-based education (CBE) format for the Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) in Criminal Justice. CBE courses are fully online and designated to allow students to progress by demonstrating mastery of clearly defined competencies. Faculty serve as instructors of record and are responsible for evaluating student work, providing timely feedback, and supporting student progression.
Faculty are appointed to a 12-month contract to support continuous course delivery across multiple entry points. Students enroll continuously, and faculty support up to 200 students across assigned courses simultaneously.
Given the applied nature of the BAAS in Criminal Justice, this role is designed for individuals with significant professional experience who can connect academic competencies to real-world practice. This aligns with program's workforce design and strong practitioner engagement.
Educational Requirements for the Position
Master's degree in criminal justice, criminology, or closely related field
Experience Required for the Position
Minimum of five years of professional experience in criminal justice or related field
Strong written communication and feedback skills. Experience with online learning environments (e.g. Blackboard)
Other Requirements for the Position
Experience with competency-based education or outcomes-based assessment
Experience working with adult learners
Experience with supervising, training, or mentoring professionals
