The full-time employee is responsible to the Associate Provost. Under his/her direction, the employee is responsible for recruiting and advising students and course and curriculum input as a member of the full-time faculty. The position also provides leadership in the classroom environment through teaching 18-21 hours per academic year. Must live near a physical SCS location (Corpus Christi or McAllen, TX) or be willing to move to a physical SCS location upon acceptance of the job.
Position Core:
- Serve as a faculty member teaching eighteen to twenty-one hours per academic year, including undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization;
- Provide administrative leadership as the Director of Certificate in Ministry, including the oversight of recruitment, advising, course scheduling, and curriculum development;
- Build relationships with local churches and associations to improve the admissions funnel for the Certificate program;
- Maintain active engagement in the field through ongoing research, scholarship, and, where appropriate, publication;
- Participate in institutional life, including recruitment initiatives, college and seminary events, and service to local churches and the broader community;
- Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Earned doctorate (PhD, ThD, or DMin) in Christian Ministry, Biblical Studies, Theology, or a related field (ABD candidates near completion may be considered);
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level; ability to teach effectively in both classroom and online modalities;
- Ten years of experience vocational ministry;
- Demonstrated capacity for ongoing research and scholarship appropriate to the institution’s mission;
- Excellent verbal and written communication;
- Computer literacy—Apple OS, SiS Database, and Google Applications;
- Bilingual preferred.

We require your CV and transcripts in order to determine the areas in which you are credentialed to teach. For example, to teach on the bachelor’s level, a professor must have 18 graduate hours in that particular discipline. Likewise, to teach on the graduate level, the professor must have a doctoral degree in the particular discipline they wish to teach. Significant experience teaching or serving in a specific area as evidenced by a CV can also be considered when evaluating in which areas you are credentialed to teach.
