Primary Purpose of Organization Unit

The faculty of the McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing have a commitment to the tripartite roles of teaching, scholarship, and service. The McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing prioritizes addressing the health care needs of South Central North Carolina, especially for underrepresented populations. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer.

Primary Purpose of Position

The primary function of this role is to coordinate and oversee clinical placement processes across all McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing programs. As enrollment continues to expand and clinical placement environments become increasingly competitive, a centralized and dedicated position is necessary to ensure equitable, appropriate, and timely placement of students in clinical settings that align with course and program learning outcomes. This role will work collaboratively with course coordinators, program directors, and external clinical partners to evaluate site appropriateness based on student level, course objectives, and regulatory standards, thereby strengthening academic-practice partnerships and enhancing clinical learning experiences.

In addition, this position will serve as the central liaison for clinical contracts and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), ensuring that all agreements are properly executed, reviewed by university legal counsel, and maintained in compliance with institutional and accreditation standards. The systematic management and organization of these agreements within a shared repository will improve operational efficiency, support accreditation documentation, and provide transparency for faculty and leadership when identifying and utilizing clinical sites. This function is critical for maintaining compliance with CCNE standards related to practice experiences and partnerships, as well as SACSCOC expectations for institutional effectiveness and resource management.

The Clinical Placement Coordinator will also represent the McKenzie-Elliott School of Nursing

in clinical partnership meetings, fostering sustainable relationships with healthcare agencies and community stakeholders. These partnerships are essential to advancing the School's mission of improving health outcomes in rural and underserved communities, while also ensuring adequate clinical capacity to support current and projected student enrollment.

Job Description

Management Preference

Experience in nursing education or academic health programs

Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., CCNE, SACSCOC)

Experience with contract management and compliance processes

Established relationships with healthcare agencies (regional preferred)

Lic or Certification required by statute or regulation

Unencumbered North Carolina RN licensure or unencumbered RN licensure in a compact state.
