We are currently looking for a Leave and Accommodations Specialist. This is a remote role. This person must live in one of these states:

JOB SUMMARY:
The Leave Specialist role administers and maintains the organization's leave of absence programs. Serves as the subject matter expert for the leave programs in alignment with and under direction of the VP of Benefits and Sr Manager of Leaves and Accommodations. Provides guidance, counsel and appropriate assistance to third part vendor, Human Resources, Leadership and Team Members on leave guidelines and practices. Ensures culture is reinforced taking into consideration team members as well as business needs when making recommendations.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advises team members and managers on the organization's leave programs, including but not limited to federal leaves, state leaves, medical and disability leaves, military leaves, paid parental, and unpaid leaves.
  • Coordinates and organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed.
  • Acts as a liaison between the Company and a third-party leave administration company.
  • Produces and manages reporting metrics and analytics for all leave cases and presents reports as requested.
  • Analyzes leave claims or requests, determines team member eligibility, assists managers in the development of alternate work arrangements and/or coordination of coverage, and manages team member return to service or separation.
  • Responds in a timely manner to all assigned tasks and presents a strong sense of urgency and focus on prioritization of tasks.
  • Records leaves and adjusts time or pay in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) as needed.
  • Escalate issues that meet pre-defined criteria and use judgment to assess risk and sensitivity of complex cases to determine when to escalate to Leadership.
  • Provides guidance, coaching, and training as needed to Leadership and Human Resources on team member leave requests/ issues.
  • Build and maintain positive and productive working relationships with team members, HR Business Operations, Team Member Global Services and Leadership to achieve business objectives.
  • Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of federal and state laws in regards to FMLA and other leave laws; conduct interactive dialogue as required by law and provide recommendations of final workplace accommodations.
  • Ensures compliance and maintenance of internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Work closely with HR Business Operations and leaders to ensure consistent messaging and practices are applied in regards to leave rules and processes.

  • Completes all required Company training/compliance courses assigned.
  • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Experience in Human Resources/ Leave Administration.
  • Proven ability to build trust and strong partnerships at all levels of an organization
  • Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and state specific leaves

PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Strong consultative, listening and communication skills with the ability to convey recommendations and opinions persuasively.
  • Sound Critical thinking, problem solving and negotiating skills with the ability to apply those skills to a wide range of HR issues.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage multiple responsibilities and deliver against deadlines.
