Hartford Union High School has a great opportunity as a Learning Support Assistant (Paraprofessional). The position will work student days of the school year, 37.5 hours per week. The position will assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in the provision of special education services and implementation of student Individual Education Programs (IEPs). Appropriate training and competencies aligned with meeting students' unique learning needs are required for this position.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
Works with students, both in-group settings and/or individually, for the purpose of assisting with specific instructional tasks.
Assists teachers in providing input pertaining to student academic, emotional, behavioral, and social progress.
Due to the sensitivity of job duties being performed, maintains a high degree of confidentiality.
Applies general knowledge of academic content to work with and support students in all content areas.
Monitors activities of students both inside and outside of the classroom for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
Assists the classroom teacher with the implementation of learning activities and behavioral procedures.
Assists the teacher in preparing necessary instructional materials.
Escorts students to and from services throughout the school and community.
Implements academic instruction designed by the teacher for individuals or small groups.
Confers and consults with staff, case managers, and administrators regarding students' needs.
Works with students in an individual setting who are experiencing behavioral and emotional issues; provides class supervision while the teacher is working one-on-one with students experiencing behavioral and emotional issues.
Assists students with personal care needs.
May need to transport or travel with students for school-related activities.

Licensing
Required: WI DPI Special Education Aide License (#0070) OR any other valid WI DPI license. Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
Preferred: CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training & Certification, AED, CPR, First Aid.
Work Experience
Required: Experience supporting children/adolescents with special needs in an organized setting.
