Qualifications

  • Teaching License - Cross-Categorical Special Education Teacher (Secondary / Grades 6-12)
  • Candidates with Bachelor's Degrees and/or a teaching license in any area with intent to add certification in Cross-Categorical Special Education will be considered.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
  • Develop consistent routines and expectations that promote independence and self-regulation.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies and social-emotional learning practices.
  • Monitor students' academic and behavioral progress (through data collection and analysis) to guide instructional decisions.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs, interests, and abilities of children.
  • Develop student IEP's, communicate with staff regarding specific student IEP needs, monitor and address IEP goals.
  • Build positive partnerships with families as essential members of the educational team.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding children''s development, progress, and classroom activities.
  • Encourage family involvement and provide resources to support learning at home.
  • Participate in family conferences, home visits (if applicable), and family engagement events.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings.
  • Maintain compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety requirements, and program policies.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and commitment to continuous improvement.
