As a part of the New Employee Training and Workforce Development Group (WMS-1) you will be able to apply your skillsets to develop and implement new processes, programs and initiatives to benefit all Associate Laboratory Directorate for Weapons Production (ALDWP) employees. Reporting to the New Employee Training (NET) First Line Manager, you will work closely with the NET Team to accomplish tasks. Day-to-day duties include supporting both small and large projects within initial training efforts, including but not limited to data entry, scheduling, records management, program execution, customer service, and inter-organization collaboration that support mission-critical functions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform learning management system administration (e.g., issuing credit, managing course registration, course management, running reports).
  • Coordinate program logistics and scheduling, and assist with management of resources.
  • Provide navigational guidance to a cohort of individuals, including getting to know LANL, following program schedules, and addressing basic new hire and initial training questions.
  • Perform training program implementation, administration, coordination, and planning.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements: Applicants must submit a comprehensive cover letter and resume reflective of relevant experience that addresses the minimum job requirements and desired qualifications of the position below for full consideration.

  • Education and Experience: Position requires an Associate's Degree in a related field and 2 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Operational Functions:
    • Basic knowledge of business activities in an operational environment, including familiarity with one or more of the following: formality of operations, compliance practices, configuration management, training and qualification, and feedback and improvement.
  • Computer Skills/Business Systems:
    • Knowledge of business and operations systems and standard software applications (i.e., Microsoft and Adobe products).
    • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to use of LANL business systems (i.e., Oracle, UTrain, etc.).
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple, complex and overlapping calendars.
  • Critical Thinking:
    • Entry-level experience in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on problems affecting facility operations and operational quality assurance.
  • Communication:
    • Basic ability to conceptualize and communicate program requirements and detailed elements to both technical and non-technical personnel.
    • Demonstrated skill with interpersonal, written, and verbal communications.
  • Customer Service:
    • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to provide clear, concise support and guidance to others in sometimes stressful situations.
    • Ability to interact professionally with all types of personnel, including external interfaces and executive management.


Desired Skills and Knowledge:

  • Basic knowledge of documentation quality assurance, including document controls and records management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidance and the implementation thereof.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • A proactive, positive nature.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time.
  • Experience with educational programs and/or academic institutions.
  • An active DOE Q-level clearance.


Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Work Schedule: This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
