Position Summary

We are seeking passionate Learn to Skate Instructor 2 to join our team. If you love to skate and working with children, this is a great part time job for you! You will need to be available Saturday mornings to teach our learn to skate programs. Additional days can be added if interested. Private lesson opportunities available.

This role pays an hourly wage of $21.00 to $25.00.

This position will remain open until July 10th, 2026.

About the Venue

The Boss Ice Arena is a 2,500 seat arena located on the campus of The University of Rhode Island. The rink is proudly home to two University of Rhode Island ACHA Hockey teams as well as several local high school teams. The rink originally opened in 2002 and has since hosted a range of events from conferences to hockey games. As a former host of the NCAA Division 3 tournament, the Boss Ice Arena has made a lasting impact on the game of hockey in Southern Rhode Island.

Responsibilities

  • Follow the facility''s Learn-to-Skate curriculum.
  • Lead a small group class.
  • Assist the main instructor in a group class setting.
  • Utilize various teaching methods to cater to different learning styles.
  • Provide positive, constructive feedback when evaluating skaters.
  • Interact with customers in a welcoming and professional manner while promoting company values.
  • Communicate facility and company program information to guests and support the company''s pursuit of excellence in all areas of figure skating, hockey, and recreational skating.
  • Provide recommendations for skater advancement through the programs offered at our facility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the sport of figure skating including competitive history, show experience and/or coaching experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. Figure Skating, Learn-to-Skate USA, and the Professional Skaters Association.
  • Present a consistent professional, motivating, and enthusiastic teaching style and able to direct a class efficiently using time management skills.
  • Learn to Skate USA Instructor certification required.
