Qualifications and responsibilities for this Lead Urban Designer position include:
- 12–15+ years of consulting experience in urban design and planning – Lead complex projects including master plans, community plans, and zoning initiatives
- Advanced knowledge of California planning practices – Oversee housing, mixed-use infill, transit-oriented development, and complete streets projects
- Master’s degree in urban design or planning (or similar) – Apply advanced technical expertise across multidisciplinary teams
- Proven project management experience – Manage sub-consants, mentor staff, and drive project delivery from concept through completion
- Strong leadership and business development skills – Support proposals, client relationships, and strategic growth initiatives
- Excellent visual and presentation abilities – Develop compelling 2D/3D graphics, renderings, and storytelling presentations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino (or similar), Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering tools – Produce high-quality design visuals and reports
- Community engagement experience – Lead workshops, outreach efforts, and public-facing presentations
Salary: $135,200 - $189,280 per year, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: This full-time, permanent, direct-hire position offers great benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, stock bonuses, wellness programs, a 401(k), 17 days of PTO (negotiable), and 11 floating holidays per year.
