POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Tumor Registrar provides guidance, coordination, and subject matter support for the Cancer Registry Program and ensures compliance with Florida Cancer Data Systems (FCDS) reporting regulations and standards related to oncology information and management and documentation requirements. The Lead Tumor Registrar abstracts all reportable cancers required by the FCDS as required under State of Florida Law and the National North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR). The Lead Tumor Registrar provides day-to-day guidance to certified and noncertified cancer registrars and is responsible for staff orientation, training, assigning work schedules and other assignments. The Lead Tumor Registrar leads and supports the planning and implementation of Cancer Program Quality and Performance Improvement studies including identifying the criteria, procedures, data collection, data submission, reporting and follow up in pursuit of Commission on Cancer accreditation.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coordinates cancer registry information systems to maintain the data repository and create necessary reporting mechanisms.
Organizes and analyze registry data for the purposes of quality, education, research, outcomes, productivity, and registry reporting compliance.
Participates in the research process through identification of population to be surveyed, determination of data collection methodologies, and performance of data analysis, editing and formatting of reports.
Supports new hire associates by providing guidance, resources, and training to job duties, customer service standards and general performance expectations.
Initiates appropriate case finding techniques to capture reportable cases for the creation and maintenance of a complete and valid database by utilizing appropriate computer databases including medical disease indices, pathology, cytology, autopsy reports, and the Electronic Medical Record.
Maintains Florida Cancer Data Systems standards in collecting and analyzing data on all reportable diagnoses.
Upholds annual renewal to FCDS IDEAS system and related access requirements.
Assesses unmatched, death match case review lists and other FCDS systems as required.
Monitors and maintains abstracting quality, coding, follow-up, and data processing procedures using approved coding guidelines and references; provides coaching and informal leadership to support consistent practices.
Ensures Cancer Conference minutes are documented.
11.Reviews and revises the policy and procedure manual annually ensuring compliance with state and national standards

Location: Remote (Florida-based). Candidates may work remotely from anywhere within Florida. However, candidates residing in Brevard County will be expected to work onsite at designated intervals in accordance with operational and departmental requirements.
