Job Summary

The Lead Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator is responsible for general programmatic operations and oversite of the trauma performance improvement program under the direction of the Trauma Services Program Director and Trauma Medical Director and is responsible for the pediatric readiness for General Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Provides coordination and facilitation of performance improvement activities including data collection, analysis, trending and benchmarking of data outcomes.
  • Responsible for the review of the continuum of care to determine compliance with practice management guidelines, policies, and procedure sand established standards of care.
  • Maintains the trauma registry database to ensure adequate documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinator multidisciplinary monthly Trauma Systems & Operations Committee and Peer Review Meetings
  • Serve as a liaison to the clinical areas responsible for trauma patients.
  • Participate in hospital education programs for nurses and resident physician caring for trauma patients.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely data submission to the National Trauma Data Bank and WV State Central Trauma Registry.
  • The PI Coordinator will act as the Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC) at General Hospital.
  • Oversees the program of care for pediatric patients in the Emergency Department
  • Enforces adherence to hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Leads the development and updating of policies and procedures for the care of the pediatric emergency patient.
  • Develops, maintains, and evaluates emergency pediatric patient care standards for the Emergency Department.
  • Monitors pediatric emergency care, including nursing and physician documentation. Follows up with staff as appropriate.
  • Supports use of and seeks out evidence-based practice in the development of Pediatric protocols for General Hospital.
  • Collaborates with professional nursing education to ensure competency in all pediatric care areas at General Hospital.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required) 5 Years of Trauma Related Experience Substitutions: Associates Degree with 10 years of experience may be substituted for the BSN
  • Experience with quality improvement or performance improvement processes Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency in data management and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) *Familiarity with trauma registry systems and regulatory standards preferred
