TradeSTAR is actively seeking a Lead Voice & Data Technician for a high-profile project in the San Antonio area. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals ready to step into leadership, as well as skilled technicians looking to advance their careers.
We are hiring across multiple levels, including Helper, Level I, Level II, Level III Technicians, along with leadership roles such as Lead Technician, Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager creating opportunities for both entry-level applicants and seasoned experts.
What You ll Do
As a Lead Technician, you will play a critical role in overseeing structured cabling installations and ensuring project success. Responsibilities include:
Leading crews on-site for voice and data infrastructure installations
Installing, terminating, and testing copper (Cat6/6A) and fiber optic cabling
Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and riser diagrams
Managing pathway installations including conduit, cable tray, J-hooks, and sleeves
Overseeing MDF/IDF buildouts, rack and stack, and cable management
Performing cable certification and troubleshooting using Fluke testers, OTDR, and other diagnostic tools
Ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and compliance with TIA/EIA and BICSI standards
Coordinating with project managers, superintendents, and other trades on-site
Mentoring apprentices, helpers, and junior technicians
What We re Looking For
Proven experience in structured cabling within commercial or industrial environments
Strong leadership background as a Lead Technician or Foreman
Expertise in copper and fiber installation, termination, splicing, and testing
Experience with large-scale builds, new construction, or retrofit projects
Ability to manage crews, timelines, and jobsite expectations
Familiarity with low-voltage systems including voice, data, and backbone infrastructure
Reliable transportation and commitment to safety and quality
