Lead Technician, Robotaxi Operations

The Lead Technician, Robotaxi Operations is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for supporting engineering evaluation, fleet testing, and operations of Tesla's robotaxi and cybercab programs. This position serves as a critical interface between various teams, driving validation testing, hardware retrofits, diagnostics, and creating a continuous feedback loop to accelerate product iteration and improvement. The role also oversees vehicle logistics and supports event execution, high-visibility demonstrations, and first responder training to ensure fleet readiness and operational excellence.

• Lead technician support for engineering evaluation, ODD, and bespoke fleet testing including prototype hardware installation, fleet maintenance, pre and post-test inspection, vehicle repairs and configuration, and test setup and execution
• Regularly interface with design, engineering, firmware, manufacturing, factory quality, and service teams to support needs throughout the product lifecycle
• Provide hands-on diagnostic support for hardware and software issues on production robotaxi vehicles, closing the loop among stakeholders to drive rapid iteration
• Oversee and manage critical hardware retrofits on production vehicles, developing strategies for service scale including planning, tracking, documenting, and driving feedback for product improvements
• Support the development and validation of cleaning automation systems and operations including cycle time and system capacity and capability testing
• Lead vehicle logistics, onboarding, driver certification where applicable, retrofits, charging, and maintenance strategy to maintain robotaxi programs and demo fleets
• Manage and assist with urgent requests for events, VIP demos, first responder events, and regulatory showcases requiring rapid logistics and technical support
• 3+ years of experience in fleet operations, vehicle logistics, NPI or field deployment, or technical program management
• Strong understanding of critical hardware, hardware testing, and ability to provide feedback to ensure test samples and testing environments are representative of fleet conditions
• Exceptional project management skills with ability to navigate competing priorities in a high-velocity, ambiguous environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with comfort interpreting logs, telemetry data, and technical reports
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders from engineers to executives
• Willingness to travel up to 30-50%
• Valid US driver's license
