Position Summary
The
Lead Teacher/Site Coordinator serves as the educational and operational leader of an assigned BBTE program site. This individual is responsible for creating an exceptional learning environment while ensuring high-quality programming, regulatory compliance, strong family partnerships, and effective staff leadership.

Essential Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Lead all daily operations of the assigned program site.
- Create a safe, welcoming, engaging, and inclusive environment for children.
- Design and implement developmentally appropriate educational and enrichment activities.
- Promote literacy, STEM, arts, physical wellness, social-emotional learning, and creative exploration.
- Maintain high expectations for student engagement, behavior, and participation.
- Foster a culture built on kindness, respect, curiosity, and belonging.
Child Development & Family Engagement
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children.
- Observe and support each child's academic, developmental, and social-emotional progress.
- Partner with families through regular communication regarding student growth and program participation.
- Address concerns professionally while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support family engagement events and school community activities.
Staff Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise Assistant Teachers, Group Leaders, Interns, and Volunteers.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and ongoing professional support.
- Conduct regular staff meetings.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Model professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and positive communication.
- Promote a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
Operations & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with all Massachusetts EEC regulations and licensing requirements.
- Maintain accurate:
- Attendance records
- Incident reports
- Medication documentation
- Student files
- Staff records
- Licensing documentation
- Conduct regular health and safety checks.
- Ensure required child-to-staff ratios are maintained at all times.
- Manage site inventory, supplies, and classroom materials.
- Assist with emergency preparedness procedures and safety drills.
School & Community Partnership
- Serve as BBTE's primary representative at the assigned school.
- Build strong collaborative relationships with principals, teachers, school staff, and community partners.
- Attend meetings as requested.
- Coordinate special events, enrichment activities, and community partnerships.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in:
- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary Education
- Child Development
- Human Services
- Education
- or a related field
OR
Equivalent education and qualifying experience meeting Massachusetts EEC Lead Teacher requirements.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working with school-age children.
- Minimum one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Massachusetts EEC Teacher or Lead Teacher Certification.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with after-school or out-of-school time programming.
- Experience supervising teams.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and positive behavior supports.
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued.

The position regularly requires the ability to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Lift up to 40 pounds.
