Position Overview: 

Leading Edge is seeking a Lead Teacher to support our after-school program at Cheesequake Preschool. This role plays an important leadership position on site by supporting program operations, engaging students in enriching activities, and ensuring a safe and positive environment for children. The Lead Teacher works closely with the Site Director and may serve as the site's point person when the Site Director is not present.

Pay
$18–$20 per hour

Schedule:

Monday – Friday Afternoons
1:30 PM – 6:30 PM

Occasional schedule adjustments may include:
11:30 AM – 6:30 PM

Morning coverage from 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM as needed

Responsibilities:

- Support daily program operations and collaborate with Leading Edge staff, school administrators, families, and students
- Assist with preparing and implementing lesson plans aligned with approved curriculum
- Lead engaging educational and enrichment activities
- Ensure proper supervision of students at all times, including transitions between activities
- Monitor student behavior and document incidents according to company policies
- Serve as the site point person in the absence of a Site Director
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment
- Communicate professionally with families and team members
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required
- Follow all health, safety, and licensing regulations

Qualifications

- Some college coursework preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a structured education or childcare setting
- Must meet and maintain New Jersey state licensing requirements
- Reliable transportation
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable using web-based systems and technology
