Lead Software Engineer I

Scope of Position

Our Client is seeking a Lead Software Engineer I to join our highly collaborative engineering team in Golden, Colorado. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and help drive the development of scalable, secure, and high-quality software solutions that power next-generation access and security products.

Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions.
• Partner with Systems Engineers and Architects to define technical direction, architecture, and solution designs.
• Establish and champion coding standards, development best practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality, maintainability, and consistency.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Mentor and support engineers in their technical and professional growth.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative engineering culture.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Platform Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define priorities and deliver customer value.
• Participate in estimation, planning, and roadmap discussions to support Agile development processes.

Software Development & Delivery

• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and services.
• Evaluate and recommend technology solutions, tools, and frameworks.
• Drive quality through automated testing, CI/CD practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify project risks, communicate progress, and proactively resolve technical challenges.
• Contribute across the technology stack, with opportunities to specialize in front-end, back-end, or full-stack development.

Travel

• Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including 1–2 years in a technical leadership or team lead capacity.
• Strong expertise in Java and React development.
• Experience designing and building cloud-native applications on AWS or similar cloud platforms.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software development lifecycles.
• Experience implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for building high-quality, scalable, and user-focused software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Golang.
• Experience developing distributed systems, microservices, or event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of application security principles and secure software development practices.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams or products.
