The Body Repair Technician Lead will be responsible for overseeing a team of Body Repair techs. The Lead reports directly to the supervisor and will assist in developing their team to address safety, quality, and rate. Candidates must have the ability to work with various teams including General Assembly, Quality, Paint, Design, and Engineering across a wide variety of issues. Additionally, support issue resolution including root cause investigation & corrective action tracking. As a Lead you will be responsible for assisting with body line KPIs while encouraging a positive and consistent problem-solving approach to develop a team.

  • Directly lead a team of body repair technicians to meet daily safety, quality and production targets. In addition, developing team members by maintaining a training schedule and learning environment
  • Assign daily workload and regularly communicate expectations and produce daily reports for management visibility
  • Ensure standardized work is followed for both repairs and fitting and partner with quality support to verify work. Escalate issues for quick resolution and provide solutions to existing problems
  • Has knowledge of approved repairs and how to work with design on coming up with new methods. Understand and ensure adherence to required safety procedures and processes
  • Evaluate the process design and tooling improvements - comfortable in suggesting and implementing new ideas that improve quality, reduce cost, support production work environment
  • Can perform body repairs and fitting of closures to body line CVIS spec/deviations and train others to meet same standards
  • Understand the basic methods of auto body repair and fitting on both a raw metal and painted body
  • Minimum 6 months body repair tech experience
  • Works and communicates with peers and with other departments fosters a team environment
  • A good understanding of manufacturing process
  • Ability to work on their own or with minimal supervision
  • Ability to understand process concerns and sets plans to improve (quality, safety, productivity, and cost)
  • Computer skills, able to generate and email reports
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain
  • Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 50 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
  • Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
  • Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump cap and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
