Quality Technician

Role Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lead Quality Technician to support quality assurance operations for aerospace manufacturing programs. This senior technical role requires expertise in electronics assembly inspection standards, precision mechanical measurements, and the ability to lead quality initiatives across multiple production lines while mentoring junior personnel. The role involves working closely with engineering teams on early hardware development and production hardware manufacturing processes in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of electronic assemblies per IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 standards
  • Conduct mechanical measurements using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM equipment
  • Document inspection results and maintain quality records per AS9100 requirements
  • Identify non-conformances and implement corrective actions with Manufacturing Engineering
  • Support first article inspections (FAI) and in-process quality checks
  • Verify supplier deliverables against specifications and drawings
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure measurement equipment traceability
  • Lead process work and review outputs for quality and standards adherence
  • Drive departmental continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead daily team meetings from a quality perspective
  • Support new-hire training programs and develop departmental training plans
  • Ensure team compliance with quality standards and operational protocols
  • Work with FOD/ESD-sensitive hardware in clean room environments
  • Read, interpret, and apply engineering documentation and drawings
Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years of high-traceability aerospace manufacturing experience
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with electrical, RF, electro-mechanical, opto-mechanical, and electro-optical assembly and integration
  • Proficiency with precision torque, measurement, and inspection devices (manual/automated torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, profilometers, optical inspection devices, multimeters)
  • Experience with soldering, epoxy, programming, quality inspection, and testing
  • Able to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform tasks requiring bending, grasping, climbing, pulling, and stretching
  • Relevant certifications:
    • NASA Std 8739.1 Conformal Coating, Encapsulation, Staking, Potting
    • IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
    • IPC-A-610
    • IPC/WHMA-A-620 (Space Addendum)
    • Space Applications Electronic Hardware Certified IPC Specialist
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ year of leadership experience, including leading teams, projects, or personnel
  • Experience transitioning teams and processes from development to production
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and adapt quickly in fast-paced environments
  • Previous military service a plus
  • Strong ownership, urgency, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with government agencies
  • US Security Clearance
