SUMMARY: The Lead QC Mammography Technologist has responsibility for all individual tasks within the quality assurance program not assigned to the lead interpreting physician or the medical physicist. The tasks are to be performed by the quality control technologist or by other designated personnel qualified to perform the tasks. When other personnel are utilized for these tasks, the quality control technologist shall ensure that the tasks are completed in such a way as to meet the requirements by state and federal regulations. In addition, the Lead QC is responsible for the mammography services operations including education and training of colleagues, patient and colleague scheduling, problem solving and trouble shooting.  In addition to QC duties, the Lead QC Technologist performs routine and diagnostic mammography exams as ordered by primary care physicians using proper technique and professional interpersonal skills. This individual is expected to follow, uphold, and have input into establishing protocols, standards, and practices. Flexibility in colleague and patient scheduling is required. This individual will uphold the mission and values of InterMed and participate in performance improvement activities. 

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Perform all Quality Control duties as defined by the American College of Radiology and Mammography Quality Standards Act 
  • Perform Mammographic exams as indicated 
  • Obtain appropriate medical history from referring physician and patient 
  • Request pertinent outside films and reports when indicated for correlation 
  • Coordinate patients for additional evaluation and/or biopsy 
  • Provide patient education 
  • Provide education and training of mammography technologists 
  • Monitor supplies and order as necessary 
  • Understands/utilizes all electronic and computer systems including basic trouble shooting 
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies. 
  • Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Successful completion of an AMA accredited Radiography program 
  • Minimum 8-hours of documented digital mammography training 
  • Minimum 8-hours of documented digital tomosynthesis training 

 

Experience: 

  • Five years of specific mammography experience required 
  • Recent experience in all areas of routine and diagnostic mammography 
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in the delivery of care for selected patient populations 
  • Must be familiar with current regulations 
  • Proven ability to use independent judgment and pay attention to detail 

 

License/Certifications: 

  • ARRT advanced certification in Mammography  
  • State license required
