Description:
The Project Estimator 4 is a senior subject-matter expert responsible for leading and governing complex capital expenditure (CapEx) estimating and financial modeling activities across large, high-impact projects, bringing 15+ years of experience in project estimation, cost control strategies, and market-aligned forecasting.
This role independently develops and validates comprehensive capital cost models, integrates staffing, risk, escalation, and market dynamics into estimates, and ensures alignment with evolving industry benchmarks, financial regulations, and organizational investment strategies.
The estimator provides strategic oversight of design reviews to ensure cost-effectiveness, leads market pricing and benchmarking initiatives, and establishes best practices for construction cost metrics and estimating methodologies.
Additionally, this role serves as a technical authority and mentor, offering guidance on advanced estimating tools, construction cost forecasting, and CapEx optimization while supporting executive decision-making through accurate, defensible, and market-informed project financial evaluations.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Project Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in conceptual engineering, project design, and value engineering.
As a Lead Project Estimator, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for various projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives, and optimizing project costs and performance.
Day to day responsibilities include leading and preparing estimates, the development of pricing models, and evaluating new technological innovations in the industry.
The candidate will have the ability to grow their skillset, as our team also works on a large portfolio of technologies including wind, utility scale solar, distributed solar, energy storage, transmission & distribution lines, substations, water treatment, 5G & fiber, hydrogen, pipelines, and fossil generation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of detailed project cost estimates, including conceptual, preliminary, and definitive estimates for new and existing projects.
  • Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support estimating scope quantification.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather and analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
  • Perform value engineering analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain estimation tools, databases, and methodologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimating processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to account for potential project uncertainties.
  • Present cost estimates and value engineering options to senior management, project stakeholders, and clients.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the best value for the company.
  • Track project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle, updating estimates as necessary to reflect changes in scope, design, or market conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements in all estimating activities.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project estimating, with a focus on conceptual engineering and project design.
  • Experience in utility-scale energy projects, including renewable energy, power generation, and transmission infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in value engineering principles and practices.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in project estimating and cost management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's or Post-Graduate Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project estimating, with a focus on conceptual engineering and project design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in field engineering or construction management
  • Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) or Certified Cost Professional (CCP)
  • Experience with cost estimation software and tools (e.g., PlanSwift, WinEst, CostX, or similar).
  • Familiarity with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment.
  • Occasional travel to project sites for meetings, inspections, and collaboration with on-site teams.
Work Environment:
  • This position is based in our corporate office with occasional visits to project sites.
  • The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
