Veterinary Assistant – Denver Cat Hospital & Evans East Animal Hospital
Pay: $19.30–$21.00/hour (based on experience)

We’re looking for a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team in a hybrid role, with the primary focus at Denver Cat Hospital and occasional support at Evans East Animal Hospital. This role is ideal for someone who loves the specialized, low-stress environment of a cat-only practice but values variety and collaboration within a multi-hospital team.
About Denver Cat Hospital (Primary Location) Denver Cat Hospital is a feline-exclusive, AAFP-certified Cat Friendly Practice dedicated to providing exceptional, low-stress care to cats and their people. We are a small, 2-doctor hospital with a strong emphasis on preventive medicine, client education, and a supportive, team-focused culture. Our goal is to create a calm, respectful environment where both patients and team members thrive. About Evans East Animal Hospital (Secondary Location) Evans East Animal Hospital is a full-service companion animal practice focused on preventive care, high-quality medicine, and strong client relationships.
As a United Veterinary Care partner hospital, Evans East maintains its own unique culture while offering robust benefits and long-term career growth opportunities. The Role This position will primarily support Denver Cat Hospital, with cross-training and shifts at Evans East Animal Hospital as needed. You will be a key part of the medical team, supporting doctors and technicians while delivering excellent patient care and client service.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Animal handling and restraint using feline-friendly techniques at Denver Cat Hospital as well as safe handling practices for dogs at Evans East
- Assist doctors and technicians with exams, diagnostic testing, treatments, and procedures • Obtain accurate patient histories and ensure complete documentation in the electronic medical record
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of treatment and patient care areas • Restock, organize, and monitor medical supplies
- Continuously advance your skill set and knowledge in both feline-exclusive and general practice medicine Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years in a veterinary clinical setting preferred (veterinary assistant, CSR, kennel attendant, or similar)
- Versatile: Comfortable working with both cats and dogs
- Communicative: Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
- Adaptable: Able to adjust to changing priorities and remain calm under pressure
- Team-Oriented: Patient, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality medicine
- Physical Requirements: o At Denver Cat Hospital: able to lift and restrain cats up to 20 lbs o At Evans East: able to lift and restrain pets up to 40 lbs o Able to work on your feet for most of the day
