Join our team as a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, where you will spearhead the mechanical design and development of advanced aerospace components and systems. This role is pivotal in advancing aerospace technologies by leading design efforts, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving the successful integration of mechanical systems into cutting-edge aerospace products.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Extensive experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace or related industries, focusing on complex component and system design
- Proficiency in FEA software such as ANSYS APDL or ANSYS Workbench
- Proficiency in 1D Beam based FEA technique
- Proficiency in Rotor Dynamics & Shafting Structural Analyses
- Ability to lead design reviews, conduct risk assessments, and mentor engineering teams effectively
- Proven leadership experience in managing mechanical design projects in aerospace environments
- Prior work experience at client or in client's industry
- Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with systems engineering principles and cross-disciplinary collaboration
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and aerospace certification processes
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design and development of aerospace components and systems from concept through production
- Collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure design feasibility, manufacturability, and compliance with aerospace standards
- Develop and review detailed mechanical drawings, specifications, and design documentation
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analyses to ensure robust and reliable designs
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the mechanical design team
- Engage with customers and suppliers to align design requirements and resolve technical challenges
