Your Role

Akkodis is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for a Contract with a client in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate with experience leading the design, analysis, and development of complex aerospace components and systems from concept through production.

Rate Range: $78/hour to $82/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the mechanical design and development of aerospace components and systems from concept, analysis, and prototype stages through production release.

  • Perform structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), rotor dynamics, and shafting assessments to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.

  • Develop, review, and approve detailed engineering drawings, specifications, design documentation, and technical reports.

  • Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, failure mode analyses (FMEA), and design validation activities to support robust aerospace solutions.

  • Collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical challenges and ensure manufacturing designs.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams while driving continuous improvement, adherence to aerospace standards, and successful project execution.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace or related industries, with a focus on complex component and system design.

  • Strong expertise in Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS APDL/Workbench), 1D Beam-based FEA techniques, Rotor Dynamics, and Shafting Structural Analysis.

  • Proven experience leading aerospace design projects, conducting design reviews and risk assessments, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, customer, and supplier teams.

Pay Details: $78.00 to $82.00 per hour
