Akkodis is seeking a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for a Contract with a client in Phoenix, AZ. The ideal candidate with experience leading the design, analysis, and development of complex aerospace components and systems from concept through production.
Rate Range: $78/hour to $82/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Lead Mechanical Design Engineer Job Responsibilities include:
Lead the mechanical design and development of aerospace components and systems from concept, analysis, and prototype stages through production release.
Perform structural analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), rotor dynamics, and shafting assessments to ensure product performance, reliability, and compliance.
Develop, review, and approve detailed engineering drawings, specifications, design documentation, and technical reports.
Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, failure mode analyses (FMEA), and design validation activities to support robust aerospace solutions.
Collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to resolve technical challenges and ensure manufacturing designs.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams while driving continuous improvement, adherence to aerospace standards, and successful project execution.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
10+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace or related industries, with a focus on complex component and system design.
Strong expertise in Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS APDL/Workbench), 1D Beam-based FEA techniques, Rotor Dynamics, and Shafting Structural Analysis.
Proven experience leading aerospace design projects, conducting design reviews and risk assessments, and collaborating across engineering, manufacturing, quality, customer, and supplier teams.

Pay Details: $78.00 to $82.00 per hour
