Job Summary:

Schedule: Mon-Fri 6am to 2:30pm
Under general supervision of the Laundry Supervisor, is responsible for assisting in the day to day operation of the laundry. Lead will learn to operate and have an understanding of all equipment within the Laundry Department. Will direct daily activities of laundry staff, assigned within each department of the laundry. Lead will assist in training and orientation of new and current staff members, and alerts supervisor to performance and or disciplinary problems. Lead will assume a leadership role in absence of supervisory personnel, by directly coordinating and assigning duties to hourly staff.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Performs daily jobs in Laundry that may be needed.
Trains at key positions to help in emergency situations tunnels, rail lift, rails, etc.
Works alongside co-workers in areas assigned. This consists of soiled sort, washroom washer equipment, production floor, and distribution departments.
Assist management staff by ensuring OSHA and JCAH requirements are being met.
In supervisor absence, lead worker will become acting supervisor by assigning work, preparing work schedules and maintaining productivity of staff.
Builds a rapport with supervisors and hourly staff that will allow for a good working relationships and smooth flow of operation.
Assists supervisor in training and orientation of staff members.
Assists in inspection of work. Monitors and records quality and quantity of work of assigned laundry staff.
Provides input to the supervisor of assigned area and to the Laundry Manager.
Leads special projects within the Laundry and helps to monitor procedures essential to the daily work flow.
Monitors soiled linen loads, to ensure designated weights are correct before items are forwarded to washer and extractor equipment.
Transports baskets and rack of linens to designated processing areas.
Assists in correcting conditions that may be potential safety or fire hazards and follows established procedures when dealing with sharps, hazardous materials, or customers lost and found items.
Keeps equipment clean and work areas neat and organized.
