About the Opportunity
System One is seeking a Lead Field Service Technician to support a global industrial technology organization that provides specialized equipment and service solutions for heavy industry and training environments.
This role supports equipment service projects in two primary sectors:
Fire training simulator systems used at airports, firefighting academies, and military bases
Steel mill processing equipment used in heavy industrial manufacturing environments
The ideal candidate will serve as a technical leader in the field, ensuring work is completed to company standards while helping train and mentor service technicians.
Position Overview
The Lead Field Service Technician will act as a senior technical resource and field leader responsible for supporting equipment installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities at customer sites nationwide.
This individual will serve as a right-hand technical leader, ensuring field work meets company standards while helping develop the field service team and maintaining strong customer relationships during onsite service activities.
Travel Expectations
This position requires approximately 75% travel throughout the United States.
Typical travel schedule includes:
1–2 trips per year: 1.5–2 weeks in duration
1–2 trips per year: 1–1.5 weeks in duration
Remaining travel typically consists of Monday–Friday service trips or short regional trips (1–2 days)
Employees are home most weekends.
When not traveling, work will be performed at the Imperial, PA workshop.
Key Responsibilities
Perform planned maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of industrial equipment at customer sites
Lead and supervise field service crews while ensuring work meets company standards
Train and mentor technicians on service procedures and best practices
Prepare tools, materials, and documentation required for field service visits
Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on industrial systems
Serve as the primary customer liaison onsite, explaining repair work, equipment issues, and maintenance requirements
Complete service reports, time reports, and customer acceptance documentation
Respond to planned and emergency service calls
Ensure all work is performed safely and professionally
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance or field service environment
Experience leading crews or supervising field technicians
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Proven ability to work independently in field environments
Experience traveling professionally for service work nationwide
Valid driver’s license
Ability to access secure facilities such as airports, military bases, and industrial sites
Ability to travel via air and vehicle for extended periods
Preferred Experience
Maintenance or service work on industrial or production machinery
Experience in steel mill environments
Experience with public safety or fire training equipment
Background as an:
Automation Technician
Industrial Electrician
Industrial Mechanic
Field Service Technician
Experience with industrial gas systems is a strong plus
Customer-facing field service experience
