Burns & McDonnells Power global practice is seeking to hire an experienced Electrical Engineer in the listed office location. The Power Division focuses on the design and construction of power generation facilities, including fossil hydrogen, solar, nuclear, and energy storage. Projects also include other types of heavy industrial facilities such as decarbonization, mining, and gas compression. The project diversity offers a wide range of design and project execution experiences on both multi-discipline and electrical-only projects.
Engineered Systems
Engineered systems include the electrical interconnect to the bulk power grid and all auxiliary electric power equipment in the facility. Equipment includes rotating machines such as generators and motors, solar photovoltaic panels, inverters, energy storage systems such as batteries, large power transformers, generator circuit breakers, isolated phase bus, duct non-segregated phase bus, switchgear, motor control centers, small power transformers, variable frequency drives, station batteries, and UPS systems.
Job Summary
As a Senior Lead Electrical Engineer, you will lead project teams to create world-class designs for both new and retrofit projects on a variety of projects. The Electrical Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans according to client requirements, industry standards, and budget constraints.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. May also have a bachelors degree in electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. A masters degree may substitute for 1 year of experience.
Minimum of 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience strongly preferred.
Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design, ANSI, and IEEE Standards. Strong computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with leading electrical discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
Ability to travel.
Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred.
