### Job Summary Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, the Lead Driver/Instructor oversees the District School Bus Driver Training Program, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the school transportation system. This role provides classroom and behind-the-wheel training for new drivers, conducts refresher and safety programs for existing staff, and monitors compliance with state and federal transportation regulations. The Lead Driver/Instructor may also perform driving and dispatch duties as needed.

### Requirements & Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid California Commercial Drivers License Class B with Passenger School Bus and Air Brake endorsements.
  • Valid California School Bus Driver Certificate issued by the state.
  • Certified as a California School Bus Driver Instructor.
  • Valid medical certificate as required for commercial driver operation.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Participation in the Districts random drug testing program in compliance with current Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a school bus driver.
  • Demonstrated record of safe driving and compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
