PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Support the Department's productivity by reducing changeover time, assisting operators in achieving optimal machine performance, providing technical support during production, and operating equipment as needed to maintain schedule attainment and customer service. The role serves as the departments "floating expert" who helps keep machine running efficiently and eliminates barriers to production.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Lead or support machine changeovers.
Ensure all tools, materials, and documentation are prepared before setup begins.
Assist operators with setup adjustments.
Verify machine settings against job requirements.
Drive adherence to standard changeover procedures.
Identify opportunities to reduce setup time.
Monitor machine performance throughout the shift.
Assist operators in achieving target run speeds.
Identify and eliminate causes of speed loss.
Support troubleshooting efforts during production.
Verify machines are operating within established standards.
Work with operators to maximize uptime.
Provide hands-on coaching to operators and assistants.
Reinforce standard operating procedures.
Share best practices across shifts.
Support new employee training.
Assist with operator skill development.
Operate sheetfed cutters when needed due to:
Absences
Break coverage
Vacation coverage
Production demands
Maintain operator certification on assigned equipment.
Demonstrate best-practice operation.
Identify productivity opportunities.
Participate in kaizen events.
Recommend process improvements.
Support implementation of new standards.
Verify quality standards are being followed.
Assist with root cause investigations.
Support corrective actions.
Ensure setup standards produce acceptable product quality.
Assist supervisors with operator qualification.
Help maintain skill matrices.
Support cross-training initiatives.
Promote safe work practices.
Assist with housekeeping standards.
Identify workplace hazards.
Participate in safety observations.
Track:
Changeover performance
Speed attainment
Downtime trends
Recurring production issues
Communicate findings to leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have basic computer skills and possess ability to utilize software. Five (5) years practical experience operating sheet fed equipment
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English. Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.
