NATURE OF WORK
An employee hired for this position performs a variety of manual work duties daily to assist in keeping the location clean and maintained. The employee also would be responsible for performing recurring tasks in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules. If a problem or issue arises, this employee will assist the direct supervisor or administrator. Supervision is direct with frequent inspections to assure completion of assignments in accordance with instructions given and standards of cleanliness.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
Cleaning practices that include but are not limited to:
• Sweeping
• Mopping
• Vacuuming
• Waxing
• Polishing floors
• Dusting
Assisting in moving or arranging furniture
Washing windows, walls, or other surfaces as needed
Replenishes tissue towels and soap in restrooms, kitchens, and classroom facilities
Empties waste baskets and other trash receptacles
Locks and unlocks doors as needed
Sorts and stores materials for recycling programs
Reports to supervisor any damages or needed repairs
Keeps location clear of litter of any kind
Assist in controlling the heating and air equipment at location
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED
Ability to follow simple oral and written directions
Some skill in the use of small equipment used in the routine cleaning
Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR BUS LICENSER
- Conduct a thorough pre-trip using the schools Daily Bus Inspection form and post-trip inspection of the school bus.
- Keep exterior mirrors clean and adjusted at all times.
- Perform a minimum of one school bus evacuation drills each school year utilizing appropriate emergency procedures per semester. This must be documented in the checklist log.
- Know, recognize, and obey road signs and signals by meanings, shapes, sounds, and colors.
- Keep interior of the bus clean.
- Maintain routes and schedules as planned by the local school board.
- Report any hazards along the existing route to appropriate school officials.
- Exercise the effective defensive driving skills of self-control, alertness, foresight, and good judgment at all times while operating the school bus.
- Maintain discipline on the school bus without jeopardizing safety while driving.
- Complete all reports on bus discipline, bus maintenance, and any other reports required by the school board.
- Remain alert at all times to hazards including but not limited to poor weather conditions, other vehicles, road conditions, and trains at railroad crossings.
- The driver shall not at any time permit students to stand in the step well or loading area or where the student could likely fall out of the bus if the rear emergency door was opened or where the drivers view is obscured.
- At such time as required by law and/or the school, the employee agrees to one mandatory drug test as part of the hiring process. In addition to the mandatory test, the employee agrees to random tests and post-accident testing and to be tested if recommended by the drivers supervisor.
