The Lead Cook will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special Catered Events. This individual, under the leadership of on-site management and/or supervisors, will coordinate the activities of workers and/or service employees. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but City of Hope may identify other responsibilities of the position.
As a successful candidate, you will:
• Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day activities of subordinates and assigns responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by management. • Maintains key control of operations and is responsible for activities to ensure opening, closing, and daily procedures are completed. • Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity. • Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality service and problem resolution. • Performs day-to-day assignments in addition to supervision duties. • Responsible for orientation and training of employees. • Takes an interest and initiative in the development of the foodservice team. • May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all City of Hope and regulatory rules and procedures. • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training. • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments. • Attends training programs, classroom and virtual, as designated. • May receive inventory and move lift foodstuffs and supplies. • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures and reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. • Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace code of Conduct and Compliance Plan. • Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality. • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
