The Lead CNC Engineer role offers a direct impact on complex, high-precision manufacturing within a highly specialized environment supporting aerospace, defense, and communication systems.
- Develops CNC programs using industry-standard CAM software and manages file transfers.
- Independently sets up, operates, and troubleshoots 2-4 axis mills and lathes.
- Plans machining strategies, estimates labor and time, and documents progress via ERP systems.
- Determines tooling and workholding solutions based on materials and part geometry.
- Creates setup instructions and machining documentation for shop floor staff.
- Verifies part quality with precision measurement tools.
- Identifies process improvements to reduce cycle times and enhance repeatability.
- Supports new product introductions by validating manufacturability and ensuring high first-run success.
- Provides guidance on programming, machining best practices, and troubleshooting.
Ideal candidates have a relevant degree or equivalent experience, 3+ years in CNC manufacturing (preferably aerospace), proficiency in multi-axis CNC programming, and strong knowledge of GD&T, tooling, and regulated environments.
