Reynolds is seeking a Campus Law Enforcement Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This role involves enforcing state laws and campus regulations, responding to routine and emergency situations, and ensuring the protection of campus property. The officer serves as a visible presence on campus, promoting safety and providing exceptional customer service. Duties include patrolling campus grounds, operating police vehicles and equipment, responding to alarms, writing reports, and assisting with investigations. The position may also involve overseeing part-time security staff and implementing security protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Must hold current certification or have the ability to obtain certification as a campus police officer as mandated by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
Meet the physical demands of the job duties.
Considerable knowledge of statute enforcement, safety, and security concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
Working knowledge of customer service practices and principles.
Skilled in operating police vehicles, communication equipment, alarm systems, and other types of law enforcement equipment.
Ability to lead and direct full-time and part-time security staff as needed.
Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions effectively.
Ability to respond appropriately in both routine and emergency situations.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage a diverse population.
Ability to gather information, write accurate and factual reports, and explain or enforce policies, rules, and regulations.
Ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures.
Proficient in handling firearms and operating an emergency motor vehicle.
Valid Virginia Drivers License.
Law Enforcement certification required.
Additional Considerations
First Aid, AED, and CPR training certification.
Basic skills in the operation of personal computers preferred.

As a condition of employment, the selected applicant will be required to successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation that includes, in part, credit educational inquiries, prior work experience, extensive investigative reference checks, fingerprint criminal history inquiries, DMV record checks, and an employment physical and drug testing.
The incumbent in this position will carry a firearm. Federal law prohibits a person convicted of a felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence from carrying a firearm. All previous law enforcement positions held must be of good reproach and have ended with honorable standing in order to successfully pass the required background investigation.
