General Statement
Gallatin College seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. The department or program search committees or hiring authority will review and evaluate the submitted application materials. - Will be responsible for identifying and securing co-instructors to teach in the following areas:
• Driving and Patrol Functions
• Firearms
• Interview and Interrogation
• Defensive Tactics
• Law Enforcement Scenarios
• Tactical Medicine
• Crime Scene Investigation
• Evidence Processing
• Criminal Juvenile and Tribal Law
• Ethics Investigations
• Other Law Enforcement Training
Requirements and Duties
- Understand industry standards and best practices as well as college rules and regulations.
- Communicate well with all types of learners at different levels of expertise.
- Recognize safety hazards and unsafe operation of tools or equipment and be able to instruct students in proper use.
- Maintain and inventory any applicable equipment utilized in the classroom or lab settings.
- Inventory consumables and prepare reorder lists for restocking.
- Maintain an organized and clean learning environment.
- Provide and/or locate emergency medical assistance when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Two years of experience in training, teaching, or a related field.
- Education: Be at least 21 years old.
- Knowledge & Skills: Have general knowledge of the theories and practices of law enforcement, public safety, and the criminal justice system. Have an understanding of theories and practices related to adult learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Prior teaching experience.
- Education: Possess a bachelors degree or associate degree from an accredited college/university.
- Subject Matter Expert in Topics of Instruction: Documented experience with a professional law enforcement agency.
- Ability to pass a background investigation.
- Proficient in Spanish.
