    Laundry Attendant 

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION 

     

    DEPARTMENT:Housekeeping 

    REPORTS TO:  Executive Housekeeper 

    STATUS:Non-Exempt 

     

     

    JOB SUMMARY 

     

     

     

    The Housekeeping Supervisor ensures hotel and brand cleanliness standards are met for guest rooms and public areas. This role involves inspecting rooms, coordinating housekeeping operations, managing supplies, and assisting with staff training and supervision. The position supports management in daily activities and contributes to delivering consistent guest service. 

     

     

    QUALIFICATION STANDARDS 

     

     

     

    Education & Experience:   

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 

    • Previous laundry or housekeeping experience helpful. 

    • Good verbal and written communication skills. 

    • Service-oriented attitude and ability to work as part of a team. 

    • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

     

     

     

     

    Physical Requirements:  

    • Ability to move, lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 25 lbs without assistance; heavier items with assistance. 

    • Push and pull loaded carts and other work-related equipment. 

    • Frequent bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. 

    • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, or sit for extended periods during entire shift.

    • Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach during inspections and cleaning tasks. 

     

    General Requirements  

    • Maintain a clean and organized work area. 

    • Follow all company and OSHA safety and sanitization regulations. 

    • Wear appropriate PPE and adhere to hazardous material handling procedures. 

    • Demonstrate professionalism and positive attitude toward guests and coworkers. 

    • Ability to meet daily productivity standards. 

     

     

    DUTIES & FUNCTIONS 

     

     

     

    Fundamental Requirements: 

    • Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently, following all manufacturer and company guidelines. 

    • Sort linens by type, color, and size; identify and pre-treat stains before washing to maintain quality standards. 

     

    • Wash and dry all linens, towels, and other fabrics according to hotel standards, ensuring proper temperature and cycle settings. 

    • Clean dryer filters daily, monitor machine performance, and report any malfunctions promptly. 

    • Fold towels and linens neatly; stack and organize clean items into carts or bins for delivery to guest floors and other departments. 

    • Separate laundry requiring mending or special stain removal for appropriate processing. 

    • Sweep and mop laundry floors regularly; store linens off the floor to maintain hygiene and prevent contamination. 

    • Monitor linen inventory levels and communicate shortages or replenishment needs to supervisors. 

    • Maintain accurate logs of laundry loads, special treatments, and equipment maintenance activities. 

    • Follow OSHA and company safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques, Lockout/Tag-out procedures, and use of PPE. 

    • Push and pull loaded carts and other work-related equipment safely. 

    • Bend, twist, pull, stoop, and stand or walk for extended periods during entire shift. 

    • Assist with additional housekeeping or laundry tasks as directed by management during peak periods or staff shortages. 

    • Demonstrate professionalism and positive attitude toward guests and coworkers. 

    • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support housekeeping and laundry operations. 

     

    In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature  (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten (10) or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities.  This position pays $15.92/hr dependent on experience.
