Job Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Laundry Aide to join our environmental services team. The primary purpose of this position is to manage the facility’s laundry, ensuring a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for our residents. You will be responsible for collecting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and personal clothing in compliance with infection control standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Collection & Transport: Gather soiled laundry and linens from resident rooms and designated areas, transporting them to the laundry facility.
- Laundry Processing: Sort, wash, dry, fold, and hang linens, uniforms, and resident clothing according to established procedures.
- Infection Control: Adhere to strict sanitation guidelines to prevent the spread of infection, including proper handling of soiled items.
- Linen Distribution: Promptly return clean, folded linens and residents' personal clothes to appropriate rooms.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate commercial washers and dryers safely; clean lint traps and equipment daily.
- Organization: Keep the laundry area clean, organized, and safe.
- Inventory: Monitor inventory of linens and cleaning supplies, reporting needs to the supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role in a long-term care facility (LTC) is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral/written instructions in English.
- Genuine interest in working with geriatric residents.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, push, and lift heavy loads.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) screening.
