Core Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup: Load raw materials, set proper fixtures, adjust the laser beam focal point, and select the correct lenses based on material type and thickness.
- Programming & Operation: Input cutting parameters, retrieve or edit cut files from CAD/CAM software, and initiate the laser processing sequence.
- Quality Control: Monitor the cutting process, measure completed parts using calipers or micrometers, and verify accuracy against technical drawings.
- Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance, which includes cleaning optics, replacing worn nozzles, checking process gases, and maintaining the work area. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Key Requirements & Skills:
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Computer Proficiency: Comfort using CAD/CAM software (such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or proprietary laser control software).
- Math & Measurement Skills: Strong shop math skills and proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Physical & Environmental: Mechanical aptitude, good fine motor skills, and the ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods.
