ELS is hiring for the position of Land Development Manager in Scottsdale, Arizona.
What you'll do:
As a Land Development Manager, you will be responsible for the success of multiple land developments. You will set the direction of our projects by leading and executing due diligence, entitlements, and construction to produce high yield Manufactured Home, Recreational Vehicle, and Marina property expansions. This is a key role, and you will directly add to ELS' revenue growth when you execute upon our exciting development pipeline.
Your job will include:
- Control the site concept plan and zoning/entitlement process to ensure each expansion target can be developed as desired. This will include interviewing and hiring the project team, including civil engineers, architects, land use attorneys, and construction managers.
- Manage the Land Development team including performance, employee development, and project delegation.
- Own and run the development due diligence process, collaborating with colleagues in Operations, Acquisitions, Asset Management, Legal, Marketing and with outside consultants and seller representatives.
- Build and manage project budgets, schedules, RFI's, and submittals within our project management software.
- Prepare and present clear and concise development investment recommendations to management teams, identifying risks, unknowns, timelines, and market information/trends.
- Lead the transition of your developments from pre-construction to construction with seamless handoff to Asset Management and Operations.
- Identify and prioritize properties for expansion on our existing land and via adjacent vacant land acquisitions.
- Ensure project completion to goals, budget, and schedule, satisfying all partners.
- Evaluate potential expansion acquisitions and support deal underwriting to ensure prospective projects meet anticipated revenue and cost assumptions.
- Conduct research and review all due diligence materials and reports.
Your skills and experience include:
- 5+ years of commercial real estate, construction, or development experience with a track record of success in financial analysis, due diligence, rezoning and entitlements. Experience in acquisitions, real estate development, manufactured housing, residential or hospitality is a plus.
- A Bachelor's degree; real estate professional certification is a plus (CPM, CCIM or MRE).
- Strong communicator and you have outstanding written and oral communication styles.
- You demonstrate the ability to work and thrive in an outcome oriented and collaborative culture, both independently and as part of a team.
- You are persuasive and able to tailor your message to your audience, including top executives.
- You have an excellent work ethic based on self-confidence, integrity, taking initiative, and personal responsibility and you can drive continuous improvement and tackle problems head on.
- Strong analytical skills and take a detailed approach, using economic, financial, market and industry data to understand and improve business results.
- Understanding of construction documents as well as acquisition documents (title, survey, PCA, Phase 1, appraisals, etc.).
- Project management skills are strong and you can carry out multiple concurrent projects and tasks.
- Computer skills are proven including Excel, Word, email, web research and web collaboration tools.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaboration, facilitation and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel and you possess a valid driver's license.

Annual Salary: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00
The salary listed is an estimate and not guaranteed. A salary offer will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to the base pay and our benefits, some positions are eligible for bonuses, sales commissions, or incentive pay.
