Job Summary: Educates, advocates, and clinically manages breastfeeding care for all patients and families. Educates and collaborates with hospital staff about breastfeeding and lactation strategies. Coordinates breastfeeding services with outside agencies and the community.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program or Lactation Consultant Certificate preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Kentucky Board of Nursing or compact state license required.
- BLS required.
- NRP or NRPI preferred within 3 months, not to exceed 6 months.
- Certification in area of expertise preferred.
- Avade workplace violence prevention training (Level II) required after hire or transfer, not to exceed 3 months, and maintained annually. Training provided in-house.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two years’ performance as a Registered Nurse in the Mother/Baby or NICU area is perferred.
