The Lactation Consultant serves as a clinical expert, educator, and advocate for breastfeeding and infant feeding support. This role partners with patients, families, providers, and interdisciplinary care teams to promote positive maternal and infant outcomes through evidence-based education, assessment, and consultation services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide lactation assessment, education, and support to patients and families throughout the perinatal and postpartum care continuum.
- Develop and implement individualized feeding plans to promote successful breastfeeding and infant nutrition.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for nursing staff, providers, and care teams regarding lactation best practices.
- Deliver patient and family education focused on breastfeeding, infant feeding, maternal wellness, and newborn care.
- Participate in community outreach, health promotion initiatives, and educational programs that support maternal and infant health.
What We're Looking For:
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum of one year of experience providing lactation consultation, maternal-child health, postpartum, labor and delivery, NICU, or newborn nursery services preferred.
