License: International Board Certification Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) - Must have + Either of these below:

 

Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania)
Licensed Dietitian-Nutrition (LDN) (Pennsylvania)
Occupational Therapist (Pennsylvania)
Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) (Pennsylvania)
Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania)
Osteopathic Respiratory Therapist (Pennsylvania)
Speech & Language Pathology License (Pennsylvania)
 

This would be 5 days a week role in which 4 day the worker will be at Main campus and 1 day week will be at KOP campus

Will be seeing mostly outpatient 

Shift: 9am-5pm each day



Job Summary:
The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing clinical lactation services and support to patients, families, clinical teams and community. Collaborates with multiple departments and inter-professional teams as the expert with regard to lactation, breastfeeding and human milk management. Tasks include assessing, educating, implementing interventions, and monitoring outcomes of lactation support for clients.
 
Job Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
--Patient Care:
-Ensures delivery of evidenced based and quality services
-Responds to consults per departmental standards
-Implements and monitors interventions with regard to breastfeeding and pumping
-Participates in patient care rounds, HMMC rounds
-Maintains patient lists within EHR
-Documents all encounters within the electronic health record
-Participates in policy/procedure development and upkeep
--Lactation Education:
-Educates clients on proper technique with regard to breastfeeding and pumping
-Plans and develops departmental and patient teaching sessions.
-Serves as a preceptor to students
-Participates in community outreach programs, Hospital wide breastfeeding committee, WBW
--Research/Data Collection:
-Participates in research and data collection as opportunities are identified
--Professional Development:
-Maintains professional credentials and expands knowledge and skills.
-Develops and implements an individualized plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and staff development programs when feasible.
-Represents CHOP lactation program through participation in leadership of local or national professional organizations or initiatives, continuing education events and training programs when feasible.
-Participates as expert speaker/author on lactation topics as appropriate.

Required Skills & Experience:
-Previous experience in NICU/Pediatric, critical care.
-Comprehensive knowledge and application of lactation principles in medically fragile neonatal and pediatric patients.
-Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to patients and families, public, staff and physicians.
-Ability to organize tasks and work independently.
-Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others.
-Ability to function independently.
-Ability to counsel and educate clients and medical staff.

Preferred Skills & Experience:
-At least one (1) year    experience in an inpatient hospital setting.

Required Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or similar field of study.
