Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join their team in Wilmerding, PA. In this role, you will be the cornerstone of our quality assurance operations — performing quality control testing on finished lubricant products, managing calibrations, and ensuring ongoing lab compliance. You will work closely with Plant Managers and Operations staff to keep production running smoothly and products shipment-ready.


Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Production Support
  • Perform quality control testing on finished lubricant products and approve for shipment
  • Test and approve incoming raw materials and certificates of analysis (C/As)
  • Assist blenders with production batch adjustments and batch sheet completion
  • Enter test results into computer systems and generate certificates of analysis
  • Maintain organized collection of retain samples
Laboratory Operations
  • Operate lab equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform calibrations on lab equipment
  • Apply basic wet chemistry skills and petroleum test equipment knowledge
  • Identify and flag off-spec materials
  • Maintain neat laboratory notebooks and files
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all lab chemicals
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Assist in maintaining ISO or other quality management records
  • Ensure lab quality compliance
  • Prepare for and participate in audits by customers, suppliers, and registrars
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Education
  • B.S. degree in a scientific discipline preferred
  • Associate's degree with 2+ years of related experience considered
  • Experience in the oil/lubricants industry is a plus
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems, including customer and supplier portals
  • Experience with Chempax or similar ERP/LIMS systems a plus
  • Ability to print C/As and blend sheets and update system data
  • Comfort troubleshooting basic computer issues
  • Familiarity with certificates of analysis and ISO quality documentation
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 10 lbs
  • Works occasionally near moving mechanical parts; moderate noise environment
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
  • Will work with and have exposure to chemicals; some may be harmful — proper PPE provided
