Job Summary:

The Department of Medicine is looking for a Laboratory Technician in Human Pluripotent Stem cells and Islet Differentiation Research in the Dadheech Stem Cell and Islet Bioengineering lab. Diabetes is a global health problem worldwide with a huge economic burden. the use of stem cell-derived islets (SC-Islets) has shown promise, scaling-up manufacturing capacity will be pivotal to SC-Islet cell survival, maturation, and function. Optimized methods from our group have demonstrated the potential of scalable suspension bioreactor technologies to enable mass production of autologous (patient-derived) stem cell-derived islets in 3D suspension. The Laboratory Technician will participate in the work and goals of the lab with the following duties not limited to: routine cell culture: maintenance and differentiation of ESC/iPS cell cultures into pancreatic lineage cells (including data analysis), general lab duties such as maintenance of lab equipment, purchasing, inventory control, cleaning, preparing solutions, data collection and documentation, basic cell biology techniques such as DNA/RNA purification, Q-PCR gene expression, Immunochemistry, protein analysis, Flow cytometry, and Immunoassay (ELISA) (including data analysis).

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor''s degree and at least 1 year of work experience in handling human/ mouse primary cells or stem cells or equivalent combination of education and experiance. Experience in laboratory management, online inventory management and research training. Experience in routine cellular and molecular techniques. Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Strong analytical skills, organization skills and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference would be given to candidates having an experience in human ES/iPS cell cultures.

Monday - Friday Daytime Hours
