The Laboratory Technician III performs moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing to assist physicians in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The technologist is responsible for specimen collection, processing, analysis, quality control, instrument maintenance, and accurate reporting of laboratory results.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Process, analyze, and report patient specimens in a timely manner.
  • Conduct quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing activities.
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation.
  • Review patient results for accuracy and notify providers of critical values.
  • Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, storage, and transportation.
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and infection prevention guidelines.
  • Document all laboratory activities accurately within the laboratory information system.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, continuing education, and competency assessments.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining adequate stock levels.
  • Collaborate effectively with providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

Requirements

Education

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related laboratory field preferred.

Certifications

ASCP, AMT, or equivalent laboratory certification preferred.

Experience

Previous hospital laboratory experience strongly preferred.
Experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, or Blood Bank highly desirable.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical setting.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Must complete all Chenega and facility onboarding requirements.
