The position will have an emphasis in mechanical testing, polymers characterization, materials testing, microscopy and data analysis. This person will work closely with their supervisor on projects and tasks involving characterizing new materials and devices, as well as supplier development.Position Responsibilities:Perform hands-on laboratory work and data analysis under the direction of staff engineers, including fatigue, optical microscopy, polymer analysis and sample preparation.Provide input regarding test observations and data analysisAssist in refining methods for testing medical device components.Prepare samples for characterization testing, such as polymer oxidation or metal corrosion.Years of Experience 7+Specialized Knowledge Required: Experience in mechanical testing, specifically fatigue; Experience in optical microscopy; Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) Desired/Preferred Qualifications: Experience with metallography; Experience with electrical testing; Experience working with chemicalsPhysical Job Requirements: Environment: Laboratory Office Wear Govles Eye Protection Chemical/Solvents Mobility/Dexterity: Bend/Stoop/Kneel-2-4 hours per day Stand/Sit/Walk - 4-6 hours per day Lifting - 10-20 pounds Vision: Microscope/fine close work up to 8 hours per dayQualificationsEducation Required: Completion of an associate degree in materials science, mechanical or an associated technical program.
