Shift: 1st Shift (M-F 6am-2:30pm)

Summary:

Manufactures buffers and simple bulk reagents according to manufacturing procedures with limited supervision. Participates in process improvement projects while supporting manufacturing operations. Assists in the manufacture of controls and calibrators and completes batch records following cGMP requirements. Performs in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers. Handles weighing, transferring, and mixing of chemicals, performs product filtrations, and cleans and steams steel tanks (CIP). Prepares glassware and steel tanks for sterilization, operates the autoclave, maintains laboratory equipment, monitors laboratory supplies, and supports daily laboratory operations while responding to emergency notifications and working flexible hours, including weekends, as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the manufacture of controls and calibrators and complete batch records following cGMPs
  • Perform in-process assays using equipment such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and clinical analyzers.
  • Perform weighing, transfer, and mixing of chemicals.
  • Perform product filtrations.
  • Clean and steam steel tanks (CIP).
  • Prepare glassware and steel tanks for sterilization in an autoclave and operate the autoclave.
  • Maintain lab equipment including pumps, pH meters, and flow meters.
  • Keep the department lead or manager updated on all issues.
  • Monitor stocks of common lab supplies.
  • Perform other job duties as required.
  • Respond to emergency notifications.
  • Work flexible hours and weekends as required.

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred with at least 2 years of lab experience.
  • Basic laboratory skills and knowledge of safety precautions.
  • Familiarity with Quality System Regulations.
  • Experience working with potentially hazardous chemicals and human source materials.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Compliance with GMP, QSRs, ISO, and IVD regulations in the performance of department responsibilities.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and other units of measure.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
