Role Overview
As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist Coordinator, you will lead operational workflows and support laboratory team performance while ensuring high-quality specimen collection, processing, and service delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating daily operations and delegating technical and administrative functions
- Developing staffing plans and monitoring time, attendance, and payroll processes
- Serving as a preceptor and training resource for new hires
- Providing leadership, education, and mentoring to Lab Medical Assistants
- Monitoring inventory and maintaining appropriate supply levels
- Supporting regulatory compliance and participating in surveys
- Overseeing specimen collection, receipt, and processing for inpatient and outpatient testing
- Communicating with nursing, providers, and external laboratories regarding testing and specimen handling
- Performing phlebotomy and supporting patient specimen collection as needed
Qualifications
Education
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Experience
Required:
- 4 Years of Clinical or related experience
Preferred:
Licensure / Certification
Required:
- Phlebotomy certification within one (1) year of hire (ASCP, ASPT, or AMT) OR
- Completion of BayCare Client Services training (3 approved CBTs and 1 approved class) within one (1) year of hire (only for roles not performing phlebotomy)
