We are looking to hire a full-time Lab Supervisor who will work alongside other research staff on Federally funded psychology research positions are available at Syracuse University in the Psychology and Health Lab (Principal Investigator: Dr. Sarah Woolf-King) and the Addiction, Development and Equity Lab (Principal Investigator: Dr. Aesoon Park).

This is an excellent opportunity to gain competitive research experience for those seeking to apply to graduate programs in psychology and related fields, or to pursue careers in research project management and administration. Specific projects include (1) managing an NIH-funded randomized clinical trial of an alcohol use treatment for people living with HIV, and (2) coordinating a summer undergraduate research internship program while managing a research project characterizing associations among diverse health behaviors, such as sleep and alcohol/substance use, in adolescents and young people.

This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, health, social, or behavioral sciences is required, along with prior experience and interest in managing and/or conducting social science and health research.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational, management, and attention-to-detail skills, as well as strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience with management and execution of federally funded human subjects behavioral, health-related and/or psychological research studies are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, and assessments in collaboration with other research staff members and graduate students.
  • Carrying out research within the scope of the established study protocol.
  • Implementing, adhering to and managing human subject regulations defined by SU and the federal government that pertain to research studies under the supervision of the faculty supervisors.
  • Assisting the faculty supervisors with IRB (approvals, amendments, and renewals) and NIH (progress reports, Data Safety and Monitoring Boards, and Data Sharing) documents.
  • Coordinating weekly project meetings, drafting and maintaining meeting minutes and project to-do-list, and managing lab member scheduling and execution of weekly tasks.
  • Maintaining data collection platform (for example, Redcap) and database (for example, SPSS or R), cleaning data, and conducting basic descriptive analyses to ensure data quality.
  • Administrative tasks associated with an undergraduate summer research program.
